"Patterns" Design Fair
“Patterns” Design Fair is a recurrent event promoting young Polish design
In the museum garden we will present ecological, recyclable and organic products designed by young Polish designers. We will focus on sustainable designs, staying close to nature. We will show garden design as well as furniture, accessories, decorations – anything that is necessary to enjoy a comfortable and natural life. More than sixty designers will display their works inspired by nature, greenery and sustainability. At the fair you can see and purchase plants and herbs for home and balcony.
Admission and participation is free of charge for all activities.
PATTERNS IN GARDENS is also a time to relax with family. When visiting Królikarnia you can relish ecological and healthy cuisine, and spend a pleasant day picnicking in the garden.
Events and workshops:
The main activities of “Łąka” Foundation include creating wildflower meadows in urban areas. Ecological, beautiful and practical, they deserve to be created in locations from private plots to municipal areas, replacing dull, poor-looking and work-consuming lawns. At the Fair the Foundation will do the workshop to show us how to produce seed bombs on our own, which can easily make the biodiversity in the city richer. To make the bombs, we will need various seeds of wildflowers and other honey-producing plants. Known since antiquity, this method of preserving seeds can fruitfully be used for the “guerrilla gardening”. You will also learn how you can make the wildflowers seed mix, preserve it to spring, and then correctly sow and tend with a view to making wildflower meadow.
“Pszczelarium” [Apiarium] will display a glass beehive; paint some beehives over with the guests; speak about bees’ life in the city; and also instruct how to set up your own apiary in the city.
“Yoga on Foksal Street” at 2pm invites for a free Iyengar yoga class, led by qualified teachers from a school of ten-year history. We invite everybody who wishes to learn more about yoga and see for themselves how beneficially it influences health and wellbeing. If you want to come, please wear something casual. We exercise barefooted on the grass.
Konrad Szumilas, doing the sculpture presentation, will show the stages of how his sculptures come to be, and offer the possibility of trying your own hand in this art form. We invite the old, the young and the youngest.
Style academy | 12am-4pm
Style Academy is an extraordinary and trailblazing place that encourages students to consolidate their skills and broaden their knowledge of stylization, treated both as a profession and fascinating hobby. The Academy offers professional counsel on stylization, makeup and broadly defined image.
Free workshops for children:
Rhythmics electronics | 11am-2pm
For children 4-12 years of age.
The rhythmics electronics! workshop is studying through interactive playing with sound. The idea of the workshop is to foster children’s development of music and acoustic imagination and to demonstrate possibilities of working and playing with sound by means of some state-of-the-art technology. The classes are interactive; children use digital sound controllers as well as electronic and acoustic instruments, and microphones. The classes are projector-equipped and art materials-enhanced. We also utilize movement, dance, singing and performing.
The workshops are of experimental and innovative character; kids will blaze a trail simultaneously boosting the consciousness of their own (not only musical) creativity potential.
Photography Academy | 2pm-6pm
For children of 5-13 years of age.
We kindly invite all young students for new photography workshops. As always we await you with a small photography studio and art materials, so that each participant can create their own unique gadget, which will later be used in the photography session. The workshops for children in the Photography Academy are extraordinary classes with a wide array of engaging activities in photography and art, dealing with issues such as the history of art and culture, and enhancement of children’s creative processes. In the workshops there is an atmosphere of good fun and joy. Our workshop strategy is education, inspiration and entertainment.
The Tree of Dreams (VIRID’OR Foundation) | 12am-4pm
For children of 4-10 years of age.
Do you dream about something secretly? Do you have a wish that you really want to come true? Perhaps you will think about some beloved, about someone who misses something to be completely happy? We are going to draw and write what we wish for us, for our family, the Earth, and stick the notes onto a special tree. The boards created this way will be exhibited at the autumn meeting in the education garden for children in Kazimierzowski Park, at Browarna, Sunday, 13 September 2015.
Painted with crepe and wicker – the workshop of weaving with paper wicker | 11am-4pm
For children of 7-13 years of age.
The science of making paper wicker and weaving any shapes with it. We will make baskets and boxes together with children.
Coffee painting – artistic workshop with Beata Bogucka | 12am-4pm
For children of 5-12 years of age.
This unusual technique will certainly give us a lot of creative possibilities. We will make our paintings on paper only with the water and ground, soluble coffee. We will treat this game as a sort of experiment because our activities might occur accidentally. Yet we will try and extract something more.
